I'm excited to begin reading Cornelia Funke's books. A year and a half ago we started to read Igraine Ohnefurcht, but it seemed too advanced at the time so we stopped.
Drachenreiter is another one of those many stories (Farewell to Shady Glade, Watership Down) in which the main characters are animals whose home is being destroyed by encroaching humans and who have to seek a new place to live. Not that there is anything wrong with plot formula!
Funke is very good at character dialogue, especially arguments.
